Woman, 50, is bitten by dog on Dabchicks Beach, West Mersea


A WITNESS appeal has been launched after a woman was bitten by a dog whilst walking on Mersea.

The 50-year-old victim was walking her golden retriever on Dabchicks Beach, West Mersea, at around 9.30am on September 14.

A dog, thought to be a Labrador crossbreed, attacked the retriever and bit the woman’s hand as she tried to intervene.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Two women who were with the attacking dog put it on a lead and walking off towards Firs Chase.

“One of the women was aged about 50, with blonde hair and wore and a light blue long sleeved top, three quarter length dark trousers.

“She was with a woman who wore a pink t-shirt and dark shorts.”

Witnesses should contact PC Robert Kedar in the Colchester Local Policing Team on 101 quoting reference 42/148135/20.
