Kai Havertz is currently self-isolating thanks to COVID-19 — get well soon, young man! — but it looks like he won’t have to do so alone, if his Instagram story tonight is any indication.
Here’s Chelsea’s 21-year-old adorable superstar with an even more adorable puppy dog. Looks like a little golden retriever, based on his fluffiness.
We don’t know anything else about the little guy other than this photo, but we do know that animals are very important to Kai, especially donkeys (but also dogs and koalas and so on). In fact, as he told the Telegraph earlier this season, it’s something that he will consider turning his attentions to in a much more serious manner once his football career is over.
“Football is one of the most important things in my life. But my family and things that I support, like animals, is very important for me as well. I’m trying to do my best to help people to help animals. In the future it will be a bigger thing for me to do things like that. Of course, football is very important for me. But to be honest, there are many more important things in life than football. I try to do my best to help as much as I can.”
“I was lucky as a kid. From my first years, my favourite animal was always the donkey. It was always a dream for me some day to have one of these. It’s a good opportunity to help save donkeys from the butcher or the circus or things like that. It will be a big project for me in the next years. The last years were also very good. I do my best to help as many animals as possible. I think animals are very important for us, for the world, and I do my best for them to have a better life.”

And now, some pictures from Havertz’s Instagram, with the family dog (looks like another retriever, lab or golden or some other kind, possibly a mix?) and the aforementioned donkeys.
