A LYE trader has transformed a former bank building in the town into a new, three-storey dog grooming parlour with a cafe.
Gary Farmer has spent the last few months renovating the former Lloyds Bank premises in the High Street into a bigger and better base for his Poshkutz dog grooming business.
He spent an emotional last day last week at his old premises at 217A High Street, where he’d ran his business from for about 10 years.
The old unit was no longer fit for purpose though, which prompted a search for new premises, he said.
After investing around £30,000 into revamping the old bank building – which had lain empty for two to three years – the refurbishment has been completed and a launch party was being held today (Monday November 2) at the all new Poshkutz grooming and spa salon.
Gary said: “It’s been a big project – 14 weeks of madness – but it’s brought the old bank back to life and I’ve put three new businesses into the High Street as upstairs there’s a nail bar, a massage therapist and an eyelash bar. I’m really pleased.”
Tea, coffee, cakes and Prosecco were on the menu at the launch event, which runs until 8pm this evening (for humans only – no dogs) – with strict social distancing measures in place.
The new venture, which includes a cafe and lounge area, is set to open to the public and pooches on Monday November 9.
Gary said: “It will be great to get started in here.”
Appointments will be by advance booking only. To find out more check out the Poshkutz Facebook, Twitter or Instagram pages.
