Celebrate National Dog Day with deals from Chewy, PetSmart, Petco to splurge on man’s best friend


We’re celebrating man’s best friend Wednesday.

That’s right. National Dog Day is upon us, so throw that tennis ball one extra time or take that walk just one block more with your beloved canine.

A number of retailers are celebrating the day by passing along great deals to you in honor of your furry companion.

Dog Food

Chewy is offering 50 percent off select food and treats as well as up to 20 percent off select food for the big day.

Brands of dog food, specifically American Journey and Sereston, are being offered as buy one and get 50 percent on the second. Others like Natural Balance and Wellness are giving you 20 percent savings at checkout.

PetSmart has sales on food brands Hill’s Prescription Diet and Purina.

Dog Treats

Bil-Jac, Nylabone and other dog treats are discounted at Chewy, too. The Bil-Jac America’s VetDogs Skin & Coat Dog Treats (10-oz bag) was listed for $5.49 and is now on sale for $2.98. The Nylabone Healthy Edibles Longer Lasting Triple Pack Puppy Lamb & Apple Flavor Dog Bone Treats (3-pack), normally $8.49, are just $4.92.

Save $12 on Whole Life Just One Ingredient Pure Chicken Breast Freeze-Dried Dog & Cat Treats, which are on sale for $29.99.

Petco is offering 30 percent off Milk-Bone Grain Free Dog Biscuits for just $11.27.

PetSmart has buy one and get 25 percent of specific treats, including Milk-Bone Soft & Chewy Dog Snacks.

Heartworm and Flea/Tick prevention

Chewy has deals and on flea and tick prevention as well with a number of alternatives all marked down, including Heartgard.

Save $14 on the Seresto® Flea & Tick Dog Collar at PetSmart.

Nexgard, Seresto and Frontline products are discounted at Petco.
